Overview
Snowdrops ‘Woronowii’
Snowdrops ‘Woronowii’ are a graceful and early-flowering variety, admired for their pure white, nodding blooms paired with broader, glossy green leaves. The flowers appear delicately on slender stems, creating a soft and natural display that signals the end of winter and the beginning of spring.
Flowering from February to March and reaching around 15 cm in height, this variety is perfect for naturalising under trees, along borders, or in shaded garden areas. Over time, ‘Woronowii’ forms beautiful carpets of white blooms, returning year after year with minimal effort.
Key Features
Elegant White Blooms: Delicate, nodding flowers with a classic snowdrop form.
Early Spring Flowering: Blooms from February to March, one of the first garden flowers to appear.
Distinctive Foliage: Broader, glossy green leaves add extra visual interest.
Ideal for Naturalising: Spreads gradually to create a natural woodland effect.
Perfect for Shade: Thrives in partially shaded or woodland conditions.
Gardener’s Tip
Plant bulbs between September and December, around 8 cm deep in moist, well-drained soil in a shaded or partially shaded position. Snowdrops thrive in conditions that mimic woodland environments, particularly under deciduous trees.
For the best display, plant in clusters or drifts and allow them to naturalise over time. Wear gloves when handling bulbs, as they may cause skin irritation and can be harmful if ingested. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, as snowdrops prefer consistently moist conditions during their growing period.
