Overview
Single Tulip 'Golden Parade': The Pure Yellow Standard
Single Tulip 'Golden Parade' is a magnificent and high-performing variety, renowned for delivering one of the purest, most brilliant golden yellows in the tulip world. As a reliable member of the Darwin Hybrid family, this tulip is celebrated for its huge, classic oval-shaped blooms and exceptional structural strength. The flowers are a uniform, clean golden yellow that maintains its pristine colour without any streaking or fading, standing proudly on strong, tall stems. 'Golden Parade' is a superb choice for creating bold, uniform block plantings and is highly weather-resistant, ensuring a stunning and dependable focal point and an exceptional cut flower.
Key Features
-
Purity of Colour: Features an intense, unblemished, pure golden yellow hue, ideal for crisp, monochromatic displays or pairing with strong purples and blues.
-
Darwin Hybrid Strength: Bred for performance, this variety boasts exceptional vigour. The thick, robust stems (often thicker than many other tulip types) stand up well to wind and rain.
-
Perennial Potential: Like its Darwin Hybrid relatives, 'Golden Parade' is known for its strong tendency to return and rebloom, often naturalising successfully in the garden for many years if planted deep.
-
Uniform Blooms: Its reliable height and consistent bloom time make it the perfect candidate for creating formal, uniform drifts and parades of colour along borders.
Gardener's Tip
To achieve the best possible display from 'Golden Parade'—a dense, long-lasting 'parade' of colour—you must focus on planting depth and density. Plant bulbs in large groups (at least 20-25) rather than single rows. When planting in the border, ensure the bulbs are buried at least 15-20 cm deep (two to three times the bulb's height). This deep planting protects the bulbs from temperature fluctuations and encourages better perennial performance, delaying the bloom slightly but extending the overall time the gorgeous golden flowers stay open and pristine.
