Overview

Nerine Bowdenii 'Rosa' - The Classic Autumn Pink

The definitive late-season sparkle that every garden needs. When gardeners think of the "Guernsey Lily," this is the classic beauty that comes to mind. Nerine bowdenii 'Rosa' produces large, loose umbels of trumpet-shaped flowers in a quintessential, candy-pink hue. What sets 'Rosa' apart is the unique texture of the petals; when caught in the low autumn sunlight, they appear to be dusted with gold or silver glitter, shimmering with a crystalline finish. Flowering just as the rest of the garden is winding down for winter, they provide a vital, uplifting splash of cheer in October and November.

Key Features

  • The "Gold Dust" Effect: Up close, the satin-pink petals literally sparkle in the sun, a trait unique to Nerines.

  • Defies the Season: It blooms fearlessly through wind and rain when almost everything else has finished.

  • Florist Quality: The stems are straight and strong, and the blooms last an incredible 10–14 days in a vase.

  • Tougher Than They Look: Despite their delicate, exotic appearance, 'Rosa' is one of the hardiest Nerine varieties, capable of withstanding frost once established.

Gardener's Tip

Don't panic if they don't bloom the first year! Nerines are notoriously "sulky" travelers. When you first plant them, they may produce leaves but no flowers in their first autumn. This is normal. They resent having their roots disturbed. Do not dig them up or move them. Simply leave them alone, let the foliage die back naturally, and they will almost certainly reward you with a spectacular display in their second year and every year after that.
