Gardener’s Tip

Plant bulbs between September and December, about 8 cm deep in well-drained soil in a sunny or lightly shaded position. Lily-flowered tulips benefit from locations that provide some shelter from strong winds, helping protect their tall stems and delicate blooms.

Wear gloves when handling bulbs, as contact with parts of the plant may cause skin irritation, and keep them away from pets and livestock since all parts of the plant are toxic if ingested. Allow the foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulb can store energy for strong blooms the following season.
