Gardener's Tip for Reliable Germination

French Beans are exceptionally sensitive to cold, which is the most common cause of poor germination. Plant out in late May/early June. Do not sow 'Boby Bianco' seeds directly into the garden until the soil temperature is reliably above (). Sowing too early into cold, wet soil causes the seeds to rot. To check, use a soil thermometer or simply wait until daytime temperatures are consistently warm. If starting seeds indoors, use root trainers and keep them in a warm place until the plants are sturdy and the weather is settled.
