Overview
Daffodil ‘Martinette’
Daffodil ‘Martinette’ is a beautifully fragrant multi-headed daffodil, loved for its clusters of bright yellow petals paired with striking red-orange trumpets. Each stem produces multiple blooms, creating a fuller and more vibrant display compared to traditional single-flowered daffodils. Its cheerful colouring and sweet scent make it a standout addition to any spring garden.
Flowering in March and reaching around 40 cm in height, ‘Martinette’ brings both colour and fragrance to borders, containers, and naturalised areas. Its multi-flowering habit makes it ideal for creating bold drifts of colour or adding impact to smaller garden spaces.
Key Features
Multi-Headed Blooms: Produces several flowers per stem for a fuller display.
Bright Colour Contrast: Yellow petals with vivid red-orange trumpets.
Lightly Fragrant Flowers: Adds both colour and scent to spring gardens.
Early Spring Flowering: Blooms in March, bringing colour early in the season.
Excellent for Naturalising: Returns year after year with minimal maintenance.
Gardener’s Tip
Plant bulbs between September and December, around 8 cm deep in well-drained soil in a sunny or lightly shaded position. Daffodils are extremely hardy and will thrive in most garden conditions, making them perfect for low-maintenance planting schemes.
For the best effect, plant in clusters or drifts to enhance their natural look and maximise impact. Wear gloves when handling bulbs, as they may cause skin irritation and can be harmful if ingested by pets. Allow foliage to die back naturally after flowering so the bulbs can store energy for strong blooms the following year.
