Overview

Single Anemone Blanda Mix: The Grecian Windflower Carpet

Create a twinkling woodland floor with our Single Anemone Blanda Mixed collection. Often called the "Grecian Windflower," these charming, low-growing gems are prized for their ability to form a dense, colourful carpet beneath trees and shrubs where grass often fails to grow. This carefully selected mix offers a cheerful palette of sapphire blues, soft pinks, and pristine whites. Each plant produces daisy-like flowers with sunny yellow centres that sit atop attractive, deeply cut, fern-like foliage. They are the ultimate "groundcover" bulb, spreading slowly but surely to turn bare patches of earth into a riot of early spring colour that looks completely natural.

Key Features

  • Daisy-Like Charm: The blooms resemble colourful daisies or stars, opening wide to greet the spring sun and closing gently in the evening or during rain to protect their pollen.
  • The Shade Solution: These tubers love the dappled shade found under deciduous trees and shrubs. They do their growing and blooming before the tree canopy fully leafs out, utilizing the light that reaches the forest floor.
  • Fern-Like Foliage: Even before the flowers appear, the deeply cut, fern-y leaves provide excellent texture and ground cover, hiding dying foliage from earlier bulbs like snowdrops.
  • Zero Maintenance: Once established, Anemone Blanda requires virtually no care. They are hardy, pest-resistant, and will self-seed to increase your colony year after year.

Gardener's Tip

When you receive Anemone tubers, they will look like dry, shriveled raisins or small pieces of wood. Do not be alarmed! This is their dormant state. To "wake them up," soak the tubers in a bowl of lukewarm water for 12–24 hours before planting. They will swell up to nearly twice their size. Unlike daffodils, these tubers have no obvious top or bottom, so simply plant them any way up—the shoots will find their way to the surface.
