Dwarf Tulip Mixed: The Jewel-Box Collection

Create a vibrant, low-growing carpet of colour with our Dwarf Tulip Mixed collection. This carefully selected blend includes botanical varieties (such as Greigii and Kaufmanniana types) known for their short, sturdy stems and tough, weather-resistant nature. Because they sit low to the ground, they are immune to spring gales that can snap taller tulips, making them ideal for rockeries, patio pots, and the front of exposed borders. These "waterlily tulips" are famous for opening their petals wide in the sunshine to reveal dazzling, star-shaped centres in a riot of red, yellow, pink, and orange. As a bonus, many varieties in this mix feature stunning mottled or striped foliage, providing decorative interest even before the blooms appear.

  • Windproof Wonders: Their naturally compact stature (15–25 cm) means they stay upright and pristine even in blustery spring weather.

  • Foliage Interest: Unlike standard tulips, many dwarf varieties have beautiful purple-striped or mottled leaves, adding texture to the garden as soon as they emerge.

  • Early Bloomers: These are among the first tulips to flower, blooming in early spring to kickstart the season long before the giant hybrids arrive.

  • Sun Chasers: On sunny days, the flowers open almost flat to soak up the warmth, creating a dramatic display of bright, contrasting centres that look like colourful waterlilies.

Gardener's Tip: The "Living Edge"

Dwarf tulips are the perfect solution for edging a pathway or driveway. Plant them in a continuous ribbon about 5–10 cm from the edge of the path. Their short height means they won't flop over onto the walkway, but their bright colours will create a cheerful "welcome mat" every time you come home. They also look spectacular planted in gravel gardens, where the stone chippings stop mud from splashing onto the short flowers during rain.
