Gardener's Tip for Maximising the Crop
The Golden Rule of Harvest! Courgettes must be harvested frequently—ideally when the fruits are long (4–6 inches). Allowing fruits to swell into marrows stops the plant from producing new flowers and dramatically reduces your overall crop yield. Check the plants daily in peak summer and use a sharp knife to cut the stem just above the fruit, leaving a small piece of stem attached. Once fruiting begins, feed every 14 days with a high-potash (tomato) fertiliser.
