Agapanthus 'Twister': The Breathtaking Two-Tone Showstopper

Agapanthus 'Twister' is a revolutionary and award-winning variety, famous for its unique and dramatic bi-colour blooms. Unlike traditional solid-coloured varieties, 'Twister' produces large, globular flower heads where each individual trumpet-shaped floret is pure crystalline white at the base, bleeding into a vibrant, deep ink-blue at the tips. This high-contrast "dipped" effect creates a swirling, energetic look in the garden. Standing on exceptionally strong, wind-resistant stems, it features lush, deciduous green foliage that is both hardy and compact, making it an elite choice for modern landscapes and decorative patio pots.

  • Spectacular Bi-Colour Contrast: The standout feature is the unique "Twister" effect—snow-white petals with striking cobalt-blue ends. It offers a fresh, contemporary look that commands attention from across the garden.
  • Deciduous Hardiness: Being a deciduous type, 'Twister' is significantly more cold-tolerant than evergreen varieties. it loses its leaves in winter to protect its crown, ensuring it returns with even more flower power the following summer.
  • Abundant Bloomer: This variety is known for its free-flowering nature, often producing a higher volume of flower spikes per plant than older cultivars, ensuring a long-lasting display from mid to late summer.
  • Compact & Sturdy: Reaching a very manageable height, it stays upright without the need for staking. It is perfectly sized for bringing high-end designer flair to smaller gardens, balconies, or the front-to-middle of a sunny border.

Gardener's Tip: "The Sunshine Surge"

To get the most dramatic colour contrast out of 'Twister', location is everything. While it will grow in partial shade, the "ink-dipped" blue tips become much more intense and saturated when grown in full sun. Additionally, because it is a deciduous variety, give it a thick layer of mulch in late autumn to protect the crown during its first few winters while it establishes.
