Franchi - Flowers Seed Poppy
Poppy Seeds (Papaver rhoeas type): The Wildflower of Remembrance
Poppy seeds deliver one of the most cheerful, romantic, and simple pleasures in the garden. This selection typically features a mix of classic Corn Poppies, known for their delicate, single, vibrant scarlet blooms which seem to dance on slender stems. Poppies are perfect for filling gaps in borders, naturalising large areas, or creating the quintessential cottage garden look. They require minimal effort, tolerate poor soils, and their blooms are followed by attractive, architecturally interesting seed heads that prolong the display and attract birds. Their self-seeding nature ensures a wonderful, recurring display year after year.
-

Gardener's Tip for Direct Sowing
Poppies absolutely hate having their roots disturbed, which makes them tricky to start indoors. The secret to success is to sow the seeds directly where you want them to flower in early spring (March or April). Prepare the soil by lightly scratching the surface, mix the tiny seeds with a little sand (to help even distribution), and scatter them thinly over the area. Do not cover the seeds too deeply; a light sprinkle of soil or just tamping them down is enough. Thin the seedlings once established to about 15 cm apart for the strongest plants.
